SEVERN, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County police say a Severn couple has been charged after their 5-year-old son drank methadone and became unconscious.
Police say officers responded on Sept. 4 to the home of Paul and Kimberly Brooks for a report of a child who wasn’t breathing. The boy, who had ingested methadone in his parents’ house, was revived and taken to a hospital.
Police say officers searched the home and also found cocaine, marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine and loaded weapons.
A county grand jury indicted the couple on 12 counts, including child abuse, reckless endangerment and drug and firearm possession.
A phone message left at the couple’s home Friday by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.
