WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — It’s a match made in baseball heaven for Nationals fans: LivingSocial is teaming up with Metro to keep trains running late this postseason.
LivingSocial, an online business that offers daily deals and discounts in particular cities, will pick up part of the $30,000 tab to keep Metro open late.
“We have a service agreement in place with LivingSocial to provide an additional hour of service for fans to get home following Nationals games during the entire postseason,” Metro General Manager and CEO Richard Sarles said Thursday at a press conference at the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro station.
Under the agreement, LivingSocial will guarantee one to two hours of extended Metrorail service during late games in October and November. The extended hours will only apply on Sunday through Thursday night games. Metrorail already provides service until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
“We are delighted to be able to provide this service for Metro-riding baseball fans, thanks to LivingSocial, and we wish the Nationals the best of luck in the postseason,” Sarles said.
