WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - A man has recovered his domestic drone he flew over Adams Morgan earlier this month which he initially used to shoot footage of Adams Morgan Day, but after being tongue-lashed by the government, has transformed video footage of the flight into a message to the government about its unlawful drone practices.

Adam Eidinger originally had the idea to fly his hobby drone over Adams Morgan to shoot video footage of Adams Morgan Day. But when his drone spiraled out of control and word spread to government officials he received a warning from the Federal Aviation Administration informing him flying drones is unlawful in the District of Columbia.

Video footage was recovered from a camera Eidinger mounted on the toy drone when it crashed onto the roof of 16th Street NW’s Camden Roosevelt Apartments, according to a report by the Washington City Paper.

An air conditioner repairman found the drone while working on the apartment complex’s roof, reviewed footage from the camera mount and promptly returned the unmanned aircraft to Eidinger. But in a recent YouTube video posted depicting the drone’s crash over the neighborhood, Eidinger begs the question: If it’s unlawful for him to fly drones, why is it okay for the government to do so over Afghanistan and Pakistan?

Eidenger admits to the City Paper the drone flights were “a little reckless” but still plans to fly the unmanned craft around – just not in the District.
