ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — Pierre Garçon has missed the Washington Redskins’ last two games with a bruised right foot, and his status for this Sunday’s game in Tampa Bay is still in question.
A speedy wide receiver who caught three passes in Washington’s first four plays of the season and scored on an 88-yard reception in New Orleans, the Redskins’ offense has missed Garçon’s presence as a vertical threat.
“It’s very frustrating but it’s part of football,” Garçon said. “You have to deal with problems as they come. Football is a game of injuries. You’ve got to deal with it and come back and play.”
Garçon’s foot injury was originally seen as minor, but he wasn’t able to play after being listed as questionable before Washington’s Week Two game. This past week the former Indianapolis Colt was listed as doubtful and missed the home-opener, which led most people to believe he was further away to returning than he may have been one week earlier.
“It’s always tough to watch knowing that you can help the team be successful,” he said. “I didn’t know at all what kind of injury it was. It’s nagging a lot more than anybody would have expected or wanted it to.. It’s just a lot of pain.”
Garçon, who’s reception and yardage totals have climbed in each of his four NFL seasons, participated in a limited portion of practice on Wednesday.
“I’m getting better,” said Garçon. “I can’t say if I will be able to go on Sunday or not.”
