BEALETON, Va. (CBSDC) - One teenager is dead and his sister was seriously injured in a crash while driving to school in Fauquier County.

Ian T. Heflin, 16, and Brianna E. Heflin, 14, of Catlett, were getting a ride to Liberty High School in Bealeton by another teen who has remained unnamed, when the Toyota Camry they were traveling in swerved off the right side of state route 644. The driver over-corrected, and the car shot back across the left side of the highway into a ditch.

Although all three occupants of the car were wearing seat belts, only the driver escaped the crash unscathed.

Ian – a lacrosse player and cheerleader for Liberty High – died at the scene of the accident. His sister Briana, was flown to a local hospital with serious injuries where she is listed in serious condition.

Police have not named the driver of the car saying charges are still pending.
