‘Dean Of NFL Refs’ Tells Junkies System Isn’t Working
More From The Sports Junkies
Jim Tunney, who spent 31 years reffing games in the NFL, joined the Junkies on Tuesday and slammed the league for it’s current state of officiating.
Monday night’s controversial finish with the Seattle Seahawks winning on a Hail Mary over the Green Bay Packers sent football fans into a frenzy.
“It all went out the door,” Tunney said, speaking of the NFL/officials lockout negotiations. “The system isn’t working. The officials just aren’t able to control the game.”
Tunney said the touchdown should not have counted for Seattle and that Green Bay had clear possession.
“You got to take the time and composure to figure out what did you here.”
Golden Tate’s shove on the Green Bay defender was also a clear pass interference, and it’s a call he would have made. “It’s so obvious that’s what happened,” Tunney said.
EB asked Jim why the replacements refs are struggling so much.
“It’s like taking 11 free agents and making a team,” Tunney said. “None of these officials to my knowledge have applied for, or qualified for the NFL.”
