WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - The Washington Nationals clinched its first playoff berth in franchise history Thursday night with a 4-1 victory over the Dodgers.
The victory marked the turning of the page for a franchise which had never posted a record better than .500 in it’s 8-year history … until now. At 91-58 with 13 games left to play, the Nats have the opportunity to say more than ‘we made it to the playoffs’; they have the opportunity to say ‘we won the National League East’ or ‘we have the best record in baseball’ – something most Nats fans probably never thought would be possible as they watched their team suffer 6 straight losing seasons.
Luckily the enduring Washington faithful will finally be able to witness playoff baseball in their own backyard instead of watching other more successful teams push for the ultimate prize on t.v. in October.
And you don’t have to wait until the playoffs begin to purchase tickets. Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. You can purchase up to four tickets per purchase. Tickets are available to purchase as deep into the playoffs as the NL Division Series, which will be the opening series for the Nats should they clinch their division title in the next 13 games.
Tickets for the National League Division Series and World Series become available as teams progress through the playoffs.
Also important to note, the Nationals Park Box Office will be selling Standing Room Only tickets the day of each postseason game, available for walk-up purchase only.
