ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — Washington Redskins players spoke with the media for the first time since head coach Mike Shanahan announced that Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker would miss the rest of the season due to injuries suffered against the St. Louis Rams.
Veteran linebackers Rob Jackson and Chris Wilson will be competing for the starting job to replace Orakpo.
Rob Jackson: On the possibility of starting against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“This is any backup’s dream to get the opportunity to start or get significant playing time at your position. I think we’re ready to step up our game and our defense is ready to step up their game too.”
Jarvis Jenkins: On whether he’s excited to be starting in place of Carriker.
“Most definitely… Most definitely.”
