LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) – Redskins wide receiver Josh Morgan says he’s been getting death threats following the Redskins loss to the Rams on Sunday.
Morgan received a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Redskins final drive of the 4th quarter. The penalty forced Washington into a tough decision: Go for it on 4th and long or kick a 62-year yard field goal. Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan elected to trot out kicker Billy Cundiff, who missed the field goal. The Skins lost 31-28.
After being taunted by Rams defender Cortland Finnegan the entire game, Morgan threw the football in his face after a reception.
Morgan, a Washington native, said Wednesday he’s been receiving death threats on Twitter ever since that day.
“I heard everything, especially when they get you on Twitter and are sending you death threats and wishing you bad things,” Morgan said.
Morgan says the only thing he takes seriously “is football and my family and nothing really scares me. I’m from D.C.”
Morgan says he’s been fined over the play but doesn’t know the amount.
He says there won’t be a repeat of the incident.
“Especially with Coach Mike Shanahan. None of us are dumb enough to make the same mistake twice.”
