ARLINGTON, Va. (CBSDC) — The Whole Foods Market in Clarendon has a new feature on its second level — a fully stocked bar that offers local beers, wine by the glass and organic coffee.
The “Arlington Pub” serves beers only made within a 200 mile radius. Among its initial offerings is the famed, one-off Derecho Common Ale.
The offering received notoriety after brew masters were able to salvage several tanks of fermenting beer after losing power during the power late-June storm of the same name.
Some male customers say they’ll volunteer to go shopping now.
The only draw back? They joke they’ll be spending more time and money in a grocery store.
A number of stores in the upperclass grocery chain have begun offering beer on tap, but the Clarendon location may be the first to take the approach to this level.
The Whole Foods location in Idylwood, near Tysons Corner, has a small counter dedicated to on-tap brew in its wine and beer section.
