WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Metro would like Blue Line riders to say ‘Hello to Yellow’ with the incentive of free fare cards beginning Tuesday.

When Metro debuted Rush Plus in June, by increasing service across 21 stations with six additional trains every hour of rush hour, WMATA did not anticipate how many Blue Line riders preferred sticking to one train, as opposed to spending less time waiting for a train which has less riders.

Now Metro is attempting to woo Blue Line riders to start making the daily with to the more frequent Yellow Line with the Hello Yellow program. Metro is willing to bribe its customers to show those riders that a Blue Line-to-Yellow Line transfer can cut travel time, and who can complain about that?

Staffers will be handing out free fare cards at select train stations starting Tuesday, but for a short time only. You can find a Metro employee handing out those free cards at the following times and station, but hurry, they’re only available while supplies last!

• Tuesday, Sept. 18 – Pentagon and L’Enfant – 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

• Wednesday, Sept. 19 – Pentagon City and L’Enfant – 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

• Tuesday, Sept. 25 – McPherson Square and L’Enfant – 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• Thursday, Sept. 27 – Farragut West and L’Enfant – 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
