WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — The Franciscan Monastery has long invited people to come pray for an hour or two. Now, worshipers can have a private overnight or week-long experience at the Hermitage nestled on the Monastery grounds in Washington.
It’s a one-room hideaway in the woods of northeast, free of modern distractions. There is no television or internet, there is simply a bed, desk, bathroom and small kitchen.
Students from Catholic University designed the studio space which is intended to be used for a one-person spiritual oasis. Although the Monastery practices Catholicism, the Hermitage is open to people of all faiths.
Visitors are charged $70 per night to stay at the Hermitage with typical stays ranging from one to seven nights.
