ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — For the most part, the Washington Redskins have put their Week One win in the rear-view mirror and are focused on their date with the Rams in St. Louis.
However, there was one bit of outstanding business from their season opening victory in New Orleans — Robert Griffin III’s performance.
The rookie quarterback earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his 320-yard, two touchdown performance in the Big Easy where the Redskins scored 40 points for the first time under Mike Shanahan.
Griffin’s near record-setting debut will also land him on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week
Santana Moss: What is most impressive about RGIII?
He gots it. he’s one of those guys, he’s going to play that way. He knows that every week is going to come another challenge. So that’s the thing I like about him the most.
Fred Davis: How is RGIII handling the hype?
I think he’s handling it well. I think he expects it. That’s the funny thing about he. He’s very confident, but he’s not cocky person or anything like that.
Adam Carriker: Do you believe in the Sports Illustrated jinx?
No, I don’t really believe in fate or jinx or anything. I believe you earn what you get, which contradicts what my wife believes.
He’s not all of the sudden going to go out and play horrible because he’s on the cover of a magazine.
