ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins will be without the services of long snapper Nick Sundberg for at least the next game.

Sundberg suffered a fractured arm in Sunday’s season opening win over the New Orleans Saints.

The third-year player was sporting a large cast on his arm Monday morning.

Rookie Jordan Bernstine, who was lost of the season with a severe knee injury, is the latest safety to go down in an already depleted secondary.

Former Carolina Panthers safety Jordan Pugh announced he signed with the Redskins on Twitter.

“It’s official!! I’m glad to be a redskin!!” Pugh tweeted. “#redskinnation I’m ready are you”

The Redskins later confirmed the signing.

Head coach Mike Shanahan updated their statuses as well as that of wide receiver Pierre Garçon during his Monday press conference.

Could Nick Sundberg snap in his cast?

No. No, he could not.

Bringing in a long snapper?

We’ll get a number of people in here tomorrow.

On Sundberg’s fortitude to play through the pain.

Well, it doesn’t surprise me because we’ve got a number of guys that would do the same thing. A guy like Nick, a lot of times you’ll get a snapper that just deals with snapping, and all of a sudden they get injured and you’ve got to go in another direction. . .

It wouldn’t surprise me if every member of our team would do that. That’s the type of character that you have. Guys will play through a lot of pain. Sometimes you can deal with that pain for a game and other times you can’t. So, I was very proud of him.

How is Pierre Garçon’s foot?

It’s sore right now. The x-rays were negative which means he’ll have to deal with the pain. Depending on how much he can deal with that pain will determine on how much. . .

It’s kind of like when you have a turf toe, but it’s not the toe. It’s the middle of his foot. It’s a nagging injury that I’m not really sure of right now.

How is Jordan Bernstine’s knee?

He’s going to be out for the year. It’s almost everything in the knee. He’s got a lot… MCL, ACL, PCL. So, until you actually get it operated on you don’t know for sure, but it’s definitely a season ending injury.

Disappointment from losing a draft pick?

He was doing a great job in the game too. He’s a great kid with a lot of energy. He was doing a great job at the safety position. he was doing an excellent job on special teams. It always hurts to lose a guy like that… He’ll do a great job in rehab and come back next year ready to go.
