SUITLAND, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Fearing for her life, an 84-year-old woman bit her attacker during a robbery and assault inside her Suitland home.

Using DNA from the blood left at the scene, Prince George’s County Police were able to identify the man they say is responsible for the crime.

Fifty-six-year-old Rodney William Blanton of Suitland was arrested Aug. 30. He is charged with robbery, assault and other offenses and is being held without bond.

Police say on Feb. 2, Blanton knocked on the woman’s door and posed as a neighbor. He then forced his way into the victim’s home, assaulted her, stole money and ran away.

The elderly victim sustained multiple injuries and was discovered laying on the floor of her home 24 hours after the incident.
