UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Surveillance video from a store in Maryland appears to show a Prince George’s County police officer striking a man with a gun which then fires.
The recording is from the store in Brentwood. The video appears to show Cpl. Donald Taylor approaching 19-year-old Ryan Dorm from behind and striking Dorm with his gun. A flash on impact appears to be the gun firing. Police have said that Taylor lied about what happened during the Feb. 3 incident, claiming Dorm reached for his weapon.
Taylor is currently facing misconduct, reckless endangerment and second-degree assault charges.
Robert Bonsib, Taylor’s attorney, did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment Tuesday. He has said his client plans to fight the charges.
