Brandon Banks joined the Junkies today as the guys congratulated him on making the 53-man roster and asked him about cut-down day.

Banks told the show that he believes it was the forth preseason game that may have sealed the deal.

“That last performance helped me a lot. I was able to show a lot going into the season. I know I needed some type of performance and show some big plays,  and show I could play the receiver spot. I went out there and made the best of my opportunity that was given in the last preseason game, and I’m still here obviously.”

The Junks asked Brandon about his relationship with special teams coach Danny Smith and if he fought for Brandon to make the team. “Danny is my number one guy in the Redskins organization. Ever since day one, he’s talked to me everyday. We text, we hangout. Danny’s my guy. He’s like a father figure to me,” Banks said. “

“He said he was going to put his foot on the table for me, and I appreciate that,” Banks answered.

Banks also told the show he has a great relationship with head coach Mike Shanahan, and that they laugh and joke all the time.

The surprise of the interview came when Banks mentioned that he was never told him made the roster.

“Nobody really told I made the team. I just never got the phone call and my locker had all it’s stuff in it.”

Eric Bickel called him out and said he had to be nervous then and checking his watch all day.

“Only pressure I really felt was when I walked into the building and the guy standing right there by the door, if he was going to tell me he needed my playbook or not…He let me go by, I knew I was pretty much on the team, Banks said.”
