WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Pot-smoking duo “Harold and Kumar” star in a new Democratic National Convention ad on YouTube featuring President Obama.
The video shows Obama sitting at a desk making a phone call with dramatic music playing in the background.
“Hey, this is Barack. Listen, I need to know if you’re on board,” Obama says in the video. “OK, good. Because I’m counting on you, everybody is. We have to get this right, so there is a lot at stake. Just remember that I’m trusting you on this and I will see you then.”
After Obama hangs up the phone, the camera pans to “Harold and Kumar” – actors John Cho and Kal Penn — watching cartoons in a basement, eating pizza and junk food.
Cho asks Penn who was on the phone because it “sounded intense.”
“The president,” Penn said.
The two then break out into laughter while watching cartoons.
Penn, who was previously the associate director at the White House Office of Public Engagement, will host the Democratic National Convention coverage on the president’s campaign website Thursday.
The three “Harold and Kumar” stoner movies combined to gross more than $90 million.
