TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (CBSDC) — Five firefighters and a resident have been injured in an apartment fire in Temple Hills.
Firefighters rescued four people from an apartment unit on the terrace level of the Huntley Square Apartments in the 3700 block of Huntley Square Drive. The incident occurred around 10 p.m Thursday evening.
Officials say four firefighters and one resident sustained burn injuries in the fire. Another firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation and exhaustion.
The fire spread through three floors of the building before it could be extinguished. One resident who lives in a neighboring unit of where the fire started tells WNEW she stood and watched as flames came up through her floor. When a firefighter came in to rescue her she says they both got trapped, and the he shared his oxygen mask with her.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
