More From The Sports Junkies
Redskins second year tight-end Niles Paul joined the Junkies on Wednesday to share some fond memories and experiences with the recently released Chris Cooley.
Despite competing against one another, the duo manage to form a strong kinship this past year. Paul said Cooley always believed in him, even when he didn’t.
After switching from receiver to tight-end during the off-season, learning the new position proved to be quite frustrating for Paul. However, Cooley reassured him. “Niles, you can do this,” he would say.
Paul admitted that Tuesday was a “tough day” for him and he’s going to miss Cooley’s ability to keep the team loose during the ups and downs of the season.
Paul laughed while telling a story that Cooley would often get the team going during goal-line drills in which were often stressful.
While in motion “He would tumble, cartwheels. It was just random. It was always entertaining”
Paul also talked about who he thinks is the fastest Redskins (hint: it’s not RG3 or Banks) and whether or not we can expect him to return kicks this season.
