BELTSVILLE, Md. (CBSDC) – Thousands are expected to morn the death of a fallen officer at his funeral service Tuesday, which could cause plenty of traffic delays.
The funeral service for Adrian Morris, 23, will be held Tuesday at Woodstream Church on Lottsford Road in Mitchellville at 10 a.m. A burial for the officer will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens on West Central Avenue in Davidsonville at 1 p.m.
The funeral procession with a motorcade will start from the funeral home in Beltsville, then head to a nearby police station, and continue on to Woodstream Church. The motorcade will move to the cemetery after the funeral.
Morris was killed Aug. 20 after his police cruiser crashed into an embankment just after the Powder Mill Road exit on I-95. He and another officer were in high-speed pursuit of a vehicle that matched the description of a stolen vehicle.
“He made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of Prince George’s County and we owe him and his family a debt of gratitude,” says Vince Canales of the Fraternal Order of Police.
