Redskins: Thoughts From Mike Shanahan And Robert Griffin III
ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins returned to work on Monday with two goals in mind.
First, they had to trim their roster to 75 players by 4 p.m.
Second, they had to prepare for their preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday.
Quarterback Robert Griffin III is among the many starters won’t play in the game. Instead, Kirk Cousins will get the start.
If there is no set back, Evan Royster (knee) will likely play Wednesday. Chris Cooley didn’t practice today. Kory Lichtensteiger (knee scope) practiced today, but won’t play Wednesday.
Shanahan also confirmed 106.7 The FAN’s Grant Paulsen’s report from earlier that Jammal Brown will miss four to six weeks due to hip surgery this morning. Tyler Polumbus will likely start at right tackle in week one.
Earlier today the Redskins released kicker Neil Rackers and Head Coach Mike Shanahan spoke on why Graham Gano won the kicking battle.
“Graham, won the statistical battle in practice and in games and that’s why he is on our team,” Shanahan said.
Shanahan said he would release the full list of cuts around 6 p.m.
