ANNAPOLIS, Md. (CBSDC/AP) - Power outages had utility company employees working overtime this weekend after heavy rains wiped out electricity for many Maryland residents.
Baltimore Gas & Electric says it had about 885 customers without power after weekend storms washed through the mid-Atlantic region. Approximately 685 of those power outages were Baltimore-specific, but other outages were reported in Anne Arundel, Howard, Calvert and Prince George’s counties.
Pepco reported under 200 outages in Prince George’s County.
A spokesman for the Maryland Emergency Management Agency said about 6,000 outages had been reported statewide.
The Maryland State Fair even closed early Sunday due to intense rains and will not reopen until Monday.
