ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — The popular Capital Bikeshare program is expanding in Old Town Alexandria with the installation of eight stations.
Work on the stations will begin Monday, and they are expected to be operational in early September. Officials say the stations mark the start of a pilot program in the city and more could be added.
The stations will be located at the Braddock Road and King Street-Old Town Metro stations, as well as on Prince Street at Union Street; Commerce Street at S. Fayette Street; Pendleton Street at N. Saint Asaph and N. Henry streets; and King Street at N. Royal and S. Patrick streets.
The program says it has more than 1,600 bikes at locations in Washington and Arlington County.
