LANDOVER, Md. (CBSDC) — Robert Griffin III’s preseason is done.
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan announced he has no plans to play the rookie starter in the team’s preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wednesday night.
Griffin capped off his exhibition series with a 30-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts and Andrew Luck in what was billed as a No. 1 versus No. 2 battle Saturday afternoon at FedEx Field. The Heisman Trophy winner wrapped up his preseason campaign with an 11-of-17, 74-yard, one-touchdown performance.

The next pass he throws will count, but it won’t be until Sept. 9 when the Redskins open the regular season against the New Orleans Saints on the road.
