BELTSVILLE, Md. (CBSDC) - The second suspect involved in the crash of fallen officer Adrian Morris is in police custody.
Prince George’s County police say they have the suspect, Kevon Darnell Neal, 23, in custody. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday after police identified him as the second occupant in the car two officers were chasing on I-95 Monday.
Police say Neal was the driver of the car being chased by police, which resulted in the death of officer 23-year-old Adrian Morris.
The pursuit began after officer Morris and his partner spotted Neal and Kenneth Clark Mitchell, 25, at a gas station in Laurel. The two men were prime suspects in an attempted auto theft earlier that day.
Morris and his partner hopped in their cruiser and pursued Neal and Mitchell as the two suspects fled the scene in a silver Acura. Morris died after suddenly veering off I-95 just past the Powder Mill Road exit, crashing the police cruiser into an embankment and throwing his body from the vehicle.
Mitchell was arrested Tuesday and charged with auto theft.
