Newseum To Unveil Mural Of Robert Griffin III On First Amendment Tablet
WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - The Newseum is jumping into to RG3 fever along with the rest of Washington, D.C.
The Redskins host their first home preseason game on Saturday, and to celebrate the official arrival of their new quarterback the Newseum is unveiling a giant Robert Griffin III mural. The Newseum says the mural will be lit up on the first amendment tablet – the 74 foot wall outside the building that’s blatantly visible to people passing by.
But Cathy Trost with the Newseum says they don’t just do this for anybody:
“We pretty selectively use the first amendment tablet. Only for causes or groups related to our mission or to our sense of community. And Adidas came to us with this idea and we thought it was a great idea in terms of welcoming this new sports figure to our community.”
Robert Griffin III’s first home game at FedEx Field is this Saturday at 4 p.m. against the Colts. The game will feature one of the most anticipated quarterback match-ups of the year, between Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck. Luck was drafted first overall by the Colts in the 2012 NFL Draft, just one pick before Griffin III.
