PASADENA, Md. (CBSDC) — Del. Don Dwyer was among the nine people injured when two boats collided Wednesday evening in Pasadena.
Neighbors confirmed one of the boats involved belonged to the Republican delegate who has been serving in the Md. House since 2003.
Dwyer’s family confirmed he sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and is expected to make a full recovery.
In all, four adults and five children were injured when a speed boat collided with a larger boat near Eagle Cove in Sillery Bay shortly after 7 p.m.
A witness, who lives near the crash site, says the two boats collided virtually head on. At least two people were sent airborne and the smaller boat was sent straight into the air following the impact.
Each of the nine victims has been accounted for.
Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County fire department says each of the nine crash victims are conscious, alert and oriented.
In addition to Anne Arundel County, rescue personnel from Natural Resource Police and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the accident.
