The Washington Redskins broke camp today, but had some bad news.  Second-year nose tackle Chris Neild tore his ACL yesterday and will miss the season.

“Chris is a fighter,”  Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan said.  “This is a temporary setback for him.”

Trent Williams (left foot bone bruise) took part in some of team drills and some of 11 on 11.  Williams says, “I just felt it getting a little sore. I just stopped, the game ain’t til Saturday.”  Shanahan said hopefully there is no setback tomorrow on Williams.

Chris Chester (ankle) said earlier he would take part in the practice, but didn’t.  Shanahan said Chester just couldn’t make it through team drills.  Shanahan said it was a good sign though.

Roy Helu (Achilles tendonitis) missed practice again today.  Anthony Armstrong wore a yellow (no contact) jersey today, but says “most definitely” that he’ll play on Saturday.

Leonard Hankerson and Josh Morgan both had heat related illnesses.  Hankerson was carted up early in practice and got an IV.  Morgan was carted off after practice.  Both are expected to be fine.
