CHEVERLY, Md. (CBSDC) — Prince George’s County Fire say a woman has died after an apartment fire in Cheverly.
Firefighters responded to the Cheverly Station Apartment Complex around 4 p.m. after receiving a 9-1-1 call for a smoke coming out of a resident’s apartment.
Firefighters determined the fire was emanating from the kitchen inside of a first floor apartment, located in the 6300 block of Landover Road.
Once inside, they discovered an adult woman who was not breathing, unconscious and did not have a pulse. She appeared to be suffering from critical burn injuries according to fire officials.
Paramedics administered CPR and transported the victim to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Seven people were displaced in the fire; damage was estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The woman’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
