Washington (CBS DC) - This morning President Obama took time out of his busy schedule to congratulate NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab on a successful mission with the Mars probe Curiosity.
In a phone call to JPL the president discussed how proud he and the nation are about the Mars probe Curiosity. At the end of the call the president joked with the team that, “If in fact you do make contact with Martians, please let me know right away.”
The president also said that “I got a lot of other things on my plate but I suspect that would go to the top of the list!”
The president also gave a shout-out to NASA’s mohawked heartthrob Bobak Ferdowski, Curiosity’s flight director.
Obama said that “I, in the past, thought about getting a Mohawk myself,” however his team “Keeps on discouraging me. And now that he’s received marriage proposals and thousands of new Twitter followers, I think I’m going to go back to my team and see if it makes sense.”
The video of the call can be seen on NASA’s website.
