COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) — Howard County police have released the name of a man who was shot and killed by a county officer.
Thirty-two-year-old Percy Holland of Baltimore was shot Thursday evening outside a home in Columbia after police say he threatened to shoot officers who were trying to arrest him and refused to show his hands. He died at a hospital.
Police say Holland had been wanted in Baltimore for an assault on his girlfriend. According to a warrant, he broke into the woman’s home early Thursday morning and held a gun to her head. Police say he later fled with the couple’s 2-year-old child, who was with a relative at the time of the shooting.
Sgt. Justin Baker, a patrol supervisor, is the officer who shot Holland. He’s on routine administrative leave.
