ORCHARD PARK, NY (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins defeated the Buffalo Bills 7-6 in the first preseason game of the season.

“I was pleased with the effort,” Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan had to say on the win.  “A little sloppy here and there.”

Robert Griffin III went 4 of 6 for 70 yards and a touchdown in his professional debut.

“It was fun to get out there, get in some action, getting some quality reps against a different team,”  Griffin III said.

Griffin III threw his first professional touchdown pass to newly acquired wide receiver Pierre Garçon.

“They were playing off with the corners,” Griffin III said on the touchdown pass. “Which for that screen pass is the perfect look… the rest was history.”

Griffin III also appreciates how hard training camp is.

“Practice is a lot harder than the games,” Griffin III said.

“I think Robert played well,” Shanahan said.  “For 14 plays you couldn’t ask for much more.”
