New Study Shows Blue-Collar Workers At Higher Risk For Health Concerns
WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - A new health study shows people with jobs generally regarded as ‘blue collar’ suffer from the worst health.
According to a USA Today report, the research group Gallup and wellness company Healthways gathered information about workers from all walks of life for its 2011 Well-Being Index.
The survey shows that the people who keep our society running, like the transportation workers, construction workers, and other employees of the service industries, have worse health more often.
The poll was released last month and found that blue-collar employees topped the charts when it comes to many health concerns. According to the report, about 37% of transportation workers and almost 31% of manufacturing and production employees are obese.
The survey also shows that 33% of employees in mining and construction were smokers, while 29.3% of installation and repair workers frequently consumed cigarettes.
