WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Metropolitan Police Department says one of its former officers has pleaded guilty to three counts of misdemeanor fraud in connection with his duties.
Police say David Cephas entered the plea letter Thursday afternoon. The 22-year veteran officer resigned from the department in June.
Cephas falsified logs documenting certification times in the deployment of the department’s mobile photo radar equipment. Police say 200 radar citations had to be recalled, as well as fines totaling more than $17,000 refunded.
The fraudulent infractions occurred while the officer was on-duty in 2008 and 2009.
