LEWISDALE, Md. (CBSDC) — Prince George’s County Police released video of the abduction of an 8-year-old girl by 25-year-old Charles Amofa on July 9.
Police say Amofa took the girl to a vacant building to sexually assault her, but she was able to fight him off and get away.
Authorities had a difficult time finding witnesses in that case due to the remote location of the building.
The video shows the young girl following 25-year-old Charles Amofa out of the Value Village Thrift Store.
On Monday, Amofa was arrested for a similar crime after abducting a 6-year-old girl out of the thrift store by telling her he was a friend of her fathers and that he had a toy to give her. Once outside, police say Amofa took the kidnapped girl to a nearby park where he sexually assaulted her.
An officer happened by the park where the assault occurred and took Amofa into custody less than a half hour after he initially took the girl.
Amofa confessed to the July 9 abduction and attempted assault while being questioned by detectives regarding Monday’s assault.
Amofa was been charged with kidnapping, first and second degree sexual offense, second degree assault and child abuse in connection to the abduction and assault of the 6-year-old on Monday.
He was also charged with kidnapping, fourth degree sexual offense and child abuse in connection to the abduction of the 8-year-old victim.
