WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — The president made an announcement that will bring relief aid to the nation’s capital.
President Barack Obama announced Tuesday that the District of Columbia is receiving federal disaster aid for its recovery efforts still necessary after the June 29 storm that cut power to tens of thousands of residents.
Obama had previously declared others states, like Virginia, eligible for the federal aid.
The funding is allocated to the city government and some nonprofits to appease the costs of emergency work and repairs resulting from the storm.
