James Caroline Arrested, Expected To Be Charged In Jewelry Store Murder Of Tommy Wong

ARLINGTON (CBSDC) — Arlington County Police believe James Sylvester Caroline is responsible for the murder of jewelry store owner Tommy Wong on July 27.

The 52-year-old Caroline, of Washington, D.C., was arrested for a probation violation on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities expect to file additional charges against Caroline in relation to the murder.

Wong was murdered during an armed robbery of the Capital Jewelers in the 3200 block of Columbia Pike.

Authorities were exploring the possibility the incident was connected to the robbery of a Benson’s Jewelers that occurred in the District on June 9.

The store’s owner, Ken Stein, told 9News Now the man in the surveillance photos from the Arlington robbery was the same man who robbed his store.

Caroline is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
