BLACKSBURG, Va. (CBSDC) – Police are investigating an explosion that damaged a passenger vehicle in Blacksburg.
Blacksburg police say an improvised explosive device exploded near several parked vehicles at about 2:50 a.m in the 400 block of Harrell Street.
Local, state and federal authorities are investigating the explosion.
Police say the explosive device was a pipe bomb that was targeted for an SUV.
No suspects have been identified and authorities investigating the explosion have not yet found a motive.
No one was injured in the explosion.
A representative with the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives unit on the scene says the explosion was not related to targeting the campus of Virginia Tech.
