WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Authorities say a woman jogger was sexually assaulted on a trail in the Georgetown area by a man who put her in a chokehold, causing her to lose consciousness.
U.S. Park Police say the assault occurred on the Capital Crescent Trail north of Three Sisters Islands about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the woman was attacked from behind and awoke as the man was sexually assaulting her.
The woman screamed and the man fled on foot toward Fletcher’s Boat House on Canal Road.
Police described the man as being five feet eight inches to five feet 11 inches tall, and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. Authorities say he has a muscular build, dreadlocks three to four inches long and a light scruffy beard.
