WASHINGTON (AP) — A popular nightlife district in the nation’s capital has been spruced up thanks to a $6.8 million, 17-month construction project.
District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray will cut the ribbon Friday on the refurbished 18th Street Northwest in the Adams Morgan neighborhood.
The street was reconstructed with wider sidewalks, new bike lanes and pedestrian islands, utility upgrades and better lighting.
The project was noisy and disruptive for businesses in the corridor, several of which ended up applying for interest-free relief loans from the city.
