WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Metro riders will soon be able to pay for parking using their mobile phones at two stations.

Beginning on Monday, July 30, train passengers at the Rockville and Fort Totten stations will be able to pay for metered parking on the go with Parkmobile.

The 122-space metered lot and 22 Kiss & Ride spaces at the Rockville station and 32 Kiss & Ride spots at Fort Totten will be the first on the transit system to use the service.

WMATA officials say the two stations will serve as a pilot program in order to gauge customer interest.

The service is already available at nearly 17,000 street meters in the District.

Customers will be charged a 32-cent convenience fee per transaction.

In order to participate, customers must first register with Parkmobile and download their mobile app or call a toll-free phone number.
