ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins held their first practice of their 2012 training camp this afternoon as they switch things up from previous years. In previous seasons the Redskins held their full practices in the morning, this year they are in the afternoon in front of all the fans.
Robert Griffin III led his first practice as a professional and looked sharp for the most part. The players are only allowed to wear helmets and shells for the first two days, which the players were happy with, since temps were close to 100 degrees in Ashburn.
“It’s a different football team,” Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan said. “We’re much younger. We’ve got a lot to improve on.”
Shanahan, who met the media for the first time since camp started today, said Jammal Brown had a setback with his hip injury whilerunning yesterday and will start camp on the PUP list.

“You’re just hoping it’s a little sore, nothing major, and he’ll be back,” Shanahan said on Brown.
Also Tanard Jackson (calf) and Tristan Davis (knee) will also start camp on the PUP list. Jackson, though, could be activated as early as Saturday or Monday.
Tim Hightower is being eased back in, but is practicing. Leonard Hankerson & Josh Morgan are fully practicing and going 100 percent.
Tyler Polumbus was at right tackle filling in for Jammal Brown today. Kory Lichtensteiger is also full go and was on the first team at left guard.
