WOODBRIDGE, Va. (CBSDC) — The young boy who accidentally shot and killed himself Wednesday afternoon in Woodbridge has been identified as 4-year-old Kyrell Kyyon McNeill.
Prince William County Police say McNeill found the gun inside of a vehicle after making his way outside of his home and into a nearby car in the 14800 block of Empire St. around 4 p.m. The gun fired as the boy handled it. The bullet struck him in the head.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said their initial investigation points to the incident being a tragedy.
A full investigation will be conducted at which point a determination will be made about what charges, if any, will be filed in the case.
