WASHINGTON (AP) — A new ethics board overseeing District of Columbia government will be meeting for the first time.
The Board of Ethics and Government Accountability was created as part of a comprehensive ethics reform law approved last year by the D.C. Council. The board has the power to punish elected officials for ethical violations. Previously, the district’s elections board oversaw ethics but had no enforcement authority.
The three-member board will meet Wednesday afternoon.
