WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — When the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles face off on Nov. 11 NFL fans will be treated to a match-up of two of the best quarterbacks the game has to offer. One is proven and the other has all the hype and buzz worthy of the Heisman Trophy he captured at Baylor.
Since being selected with the second overall pick in this year’s draft Robert Griffin III has been drawing comparisons to Michael Vick. Perhaps it’s his speed. Or perhaps it’s his style.
Regardless, many think if Vick were to look into the fountain of youth it would be Griffin reflecting back at him. And Vick is okay with that.
“I think it’s a great comparison,” Vick told 106.7 The Fan’s Kevin and Rock recently. “I think guys like RGIII idolized me as they grew up playing football. I think Cam and Robert Griffin III both were inspired by me and my play. And that’s me being a trend setter, game transcending, and guys wanting to emulate one another.”
Vick wanted to emulate Steve Young, Charlie Ward and Randall Cunningham when he was growing up. Now it’s time for him to play the role of idolized veteran.
“I think it’s a credit to what I’ve been able to do, what I’ve been able to accomplish, but first and foremost to the ability that God gave me, for younger players to want to pattern themselves after me,” he said.
