WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — June Branch was arrested on Monday in connection with a sexual assault on July 12 that occurred in the District.
Metropolitan Police believe Branch, 21, assaulted a woman in 1900 block of 18th Street, Southeast around 4:50 a.m. The victim told police he approached her and first produced a handgun and demanded money.
She complied with his demands, but was sexually assaulted. Branch allegedly walked the the woman to a nearby ATM and forced her to withdraw cash.
Branch was taken into custody around 11:20 a.m. by the departments fugitive task force. He was charged with first degree sexual assault while armed as well as robbery while armed.
