RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The U.S Department of Transportation has awarded $3 million in grants for public transit improvements in Virginia.
A $1 million grant awarded to the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads will be used to replace outdated vehicles that support the commission’s Traffix service.
The commission also received a $1 million grant to improve transit asset management systems statewide.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood announced the grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation on Monday. The department awarded a total $787 million nationwide.
