Capitals Head Coach Adam Oates filled out his coaching staff today when he named NHL veteran assistant coach Tim Hunter to his staff.  Hunter has been an NHL assistant coach for 13 seasons, all under Ron Wilson, including 1997 to 2002 in Washington.

Adam Oates, Calle Johansson (assistant coach) and Olie Kolzig (associate goaltending coach), who are all on the Caps coaching staff, played under Hunter, which includes the team that went to the Stanley Cup.

“Looking forward to the challenge of helping the Caps meet their goals,”  Hunter said.  “And become a successful organization.”

Hunter, 51, also played 16 seasons in the NHL as a forward and had 62 goals, 76 assists and 3,146 penalty minutes during his career.  He played for Calgary, Quebec, Vancouver and San Jose.
