SATURDAY
If you’re one of those dog lovers who hates leaving your pooch at home, sign up for an evening cruise of Alexandria’s Seaport.
Free Concert at the Kennedy Center
There aren’t many free orchestra performances around town but the four-week festival at the Kennedy Center brings an orchestra of students to anyone interested. It’s a free concert but tickets are required.
We all need a break from the chaos of the city, take the kids to Clark’s Elioak Farm. Enjoy the storybook park and sit on Humpty Dumpty’s Wall. It’s a day of magic in Ellicott City.
Head out to Lorton, Virginia for a full day of film at the Clifton Film Festival! Comedies, dramas, short films, you name it, they’ll play it, Saturday beginning at 4pm.
This year’s Water Festival is bringing an Asian African theme to Kenilworth Park along with plenty of activities and exhibits. The festival is free and will be going on Saturday from 11am until 6pm.
SUNDAY
And the Washington Youth Garden at the U.S. National Arboretum is one of D.C.’s best kept secrets, offering kids the chance to plant their own little garden plots, while taking in a beautiful scenery nestled away in D.C.
Wine, reggae and the cool summer breeze are all you’ll need Sunday at the Reggae Wine Festival in Mt. Airy, MD. Sample wines and take a tour of the 70 acre vineyard while listening to live bands, Sunday until 6pm.
“Keep the Promise” March and Rally
The “Keeo the Promise” March and Rally will bring thousands of AIDS advocates to The District In an effort to remind everyone about the global epidemic that we fight everyday. Wyclef, Cornel West and Al Sharpton are just a few of the guests. The event is free and begins at 2pm.
Made in Hong Kong Film Festival
The Made in Hong Kong Film Festival will give viewers a taste of modern and traditional culture as filmmakers explore the city through their lenses. Check it out at the Smithsonian’s Museums of Asian Art Sunday at 2pm.
Bethesda Chevy Chase Restaurant Week
Sunday is the last day to dig in at Bethesda and Chevy Chase’s Restaurant Week. Take full advantage of prefix lunches and dinners with everything from spicy Indian cuisine to traditional Italian so make reservations and read the reviews to get the best bang for your buck.
